If you hadn't noticed by the success of Netflix's Fyre Festival, 2019 is the year we're obsessed with scammers. From picking apart Billy McFarland to speculating how certain companies have been scamming us this entire time, we all seem intriuged by those that manage to steal from others. Enter The Hustle, a movie starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson that promises to fulfil all our desires in finding out how these scammers get away with it, while making us laugh at the same time.

What is The Hustle movie?

Based on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Hustle is a female-remake of the 1988 comedy starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin. With Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson teaming up to create some comedy gold, the movie follows the pair attempting to out con each other. Alex Sharp plays a tech billionaire used as a wager between the two women.

The working film title was actually 'Nasty Women', meant as a reference to Donald Trump's comments about Hillary Clinton during their campaign debates.

So it's a Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake?

Essentially, yes. It's another female-centered remake that honestly often make us roll our eyes and scream, 'why can't we give women their own plotlines?!', however this honestly looks so hilarious we're giving it a pass.

While the film is based off the original Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, that 1988 film was also actually a remake of Bedtime Story from 1964, so for any pretentious (read: sexist) film buffs who will pre-judge it as worse than the original, feel free to ask, 'what original are you referring to?' and leave them bemused.

What is the release date for The Hustle?

Set to come out on the 10th of May in the US, we can expect the UK release to be at least a few weeks later, although the UK premiere date hasn't been confirmed yet.

Is The Hustle on Netflix?

Unfortunately no, you may be getting confused with Hustle, from 2012, which is on Netflix. We can hope they buy it eventually though, it's Netflix after all.
