Last year produced one of the entertainment industry's biggest feuds. No, we’re not talking aboutRebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney - rather Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun. Let us take you back, if you don’t remember. Swift accused Braun and Scott Borchetta - head of her old label, Big Machine Records - of preventing her from playing her back catalogue at the American Music Awards. But, within her statement, she also claimed that they were stopping her from using her tracks in a Netflix documentary. A film that, until then, we didn't know anything about. (After much controversy, Swift was able to perform her tracks, and usage for the songs in the documentary was also cleared.)
So, what do we know about the film so far? Well, a lot more than we did, thanks to the release of the amazing new trailer:
When is Miss Americana going to be released?
The film will debut on the streaming service on 31 January, after making its official debut at this year's Sundance Film Festival on 23 January. (So we don't even have that long to wait.)
What is Miss Americana about?
The title sounds inspired by the Lover track Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. And it’s going to look at several years of her career - so we're maybe hoping for some exclusive music. And maybe a look behind-the-scenes at her relationship with actor Joe Alwyn, who recently said that he doesn't mind being seen as Mr Taylor Swift.
According to the official synopsis, the documentary will cover the most pivotal period of Taylor’s life, where she’s embracing her role as a songwriter but also learning to use her voice as a woman in a position of power. And it promises to be 'raw and emotionally revealing'.
However, the musician has already said the documentary does not include Braun, Borchetta, or Big Machine. The film is also in good hands, as it is being directed by Lana Wilson, an Emmy winning director, who also is also behind feature documentaries After Tiller and The Departure.
