Back in 2021, Hulu’s Only Murders In The Buildingbrought together an unlikely cast of actors who, against the odds, turned out to be one of the most apposite trios we’ve seen on screen since Harry, Hermione and Ron.
Former child star Selena Gomezstarred alongside comedy actor Martin Short and co-creator Steve Martin to play three true crime-obsessed neighbours, investigating a murder – much to the chagrin of the police – in the grandiose New York apartment block they share. Series two stuck to the same winning formula (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, as they say) but after series three was confirmed way back in the summer, we’ve now finally got some more info and it’s fair to say, this news was worth the wait.
Who is in the new cast of Only Murders In The Building?
Yesterday Selena, who plays young artist Mabel Mora, posted to her Instagram that filming on series three was properly underway, and as she panned around the room, made the grand reveal that two new A-listers would be joining the cast: Paul Rudd, who seems to be a very busy boy at the moment, and Meryl Streep, who, let’s be honest, turns everything she touches to absolute gold.
And Steve Martin, who co-created the show with producer John Hoffman, shared his own post of the new cast and confirmed, ‘The filming of Season 3 of “Only Murders in the Building” has begun! A cast to dream of.’
Series one saw long-time residents Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) join forces with new neighbour Mabel who’d purportedly moved into her aunt’s desolate flat to renovate it. A grisly and mysterious murder in the building coupled with their collective love of true crime brings the trio together to solve the crime and, obviously, record the ensuing podcast.
In series two, Mabel, Charles and Oliver join forces once more to uncover the culprit behind another unsolved murder which, as the cast revealed during their press tours last year, was a ‘pleasant surprise’ to all of them.
When is Only Murders In The Building Series three being released?
There’s no release date yet, but since is seems filming has only just begun, we’d be lucky to have series three hit our screens before the end of the year. Boo.
