When Maya Jama saunters into the Love Island villa, the cast know that something is about to go down.
And when the glamorous host gatecrashed the beach club party in last night's episode, she was the bearer of a shock twist. Once it was announced that Olivia Hawkins and Maxwell Samuda would be leaving the villa after receiving the fewest public votes, Maya then revealed that two additional islanders would have the same fate.
That decision has been controversially left in the hands of Liv and Maxwell.
Tonight, the dumped couple will have to choose one girl and one boy from the three remaining vulnerable pairings, therefore leaving Tanya Manhenga, Shaq Muhammad, Claudia Fogarty, Keanan Brad, Casey O'Gorman and Rosie Seabrook all at risk.
Maya explains, 'You must now choose one girl and one boy from the remaining vulnerable couples to be dumped from the island tonight. Please go and take a seat to discuss your reasons and to make a decision.'
As the couple deliberate, ring girl Liv comments, 'This is stressful, there are so many options.'
They eventually make a decision and return to their fellow islanders to deliver their verdict.
'This has been a really difficult decision for both of us. Do you keep a couple in that could potentially rebuild a flame? Do you keep a boy and a girl that haven't had enough time here? It’s been very difficult to make this decision, there are so many options we could have gone for,' Liv says.
One fan blasted the producers' decision to leave the second dumping up to Liv and Maxwell, calling it 'the worst thing to happen this series'. On the other hand, another saw the positive in the twist, saying it 'made sense' and 'adds fuel to the fire'.
Ahead of tonight's episode, Love Island has dropped its obligatory first look, which teases, 'Get ready for a lot of empty beds tonight, as Olivia and Maxwell pick two more Islanders to head home with them...'
It immediately racked up a flurry of opinions, one which read, 'Keanan deserves a chance to stay he’s a decent lad.'
A second questioned, 'Giving all the power to Olivia for what???'
'What does Olivia have on the producers?' a third wondered. 'Even when leaving she has power.'
