Take a big sigh of relief... Bluey is back! Yes, this week BBC Studios revealed that a collection of 20 new ‘Bluey Minisodes’ is set to be released, ranging from one to three minutes in length for that perfect dose of quiet bliss for parents.
What are the new Bluey Minisodes about?
The Bluey Minisodes are a series of 20 funny and sweet moments featuring Bluey and Bingo. There is also said to be some new characters, alongside fan favourites like Unicorse, Nana and Bob Heeler, with one episode featuring Dad getting a 'tattoo' and another showing behind the scenes at Bluey and Bingo's dreamhouse.
The new release comes after the viral global premiere of the longest ever Bluey episode, ‘The Sign’ - which broke viewing records and was a major hit with parents. ‘The Sign’ garnered more than 10 million views worldwide on Disney+ in the week after its release.
'The minisodes were created to dive deeper into the wonderful world and characters of Bluey, highlighting the cultural references and games that ignite joy amongst our fans,' says Cecilia Persson, Managing Director of BBC Studios Kids & Family. 'From Dad’s new robot to Unicorse’s no filter, we know fans will go wackadoo for this fantastic new content.'
When do the new Bluey episodes come out?
Unfortunnately, there is a slight wait for UK audiences. The first batch of ‘Bluey Minisodes’, written by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and produced by the Emmy and BAFTA award-winning team at Ludo Studio, will air on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in June for audiences in Australia, and will be available on Disney Jr. and Disney+ this July.
Who is Bluey and what is the series about?
Bluey is described as being 'about a loveable, inexhaustible, Blue Heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad and her little sister, Bingo. Bluey uses her limitless energy to play games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family and the whole neighbourhood into her world of fun.'
Following its debut in Australia in 2018, Bluey has garnered millions of fans around the world. The award-winning animated global TV phenomena airs in over 60+ countries and was the most streamed kids show last year in the US, doubling its viewing time from 2022 to 43.9 billion viewing minutes.
'The Bluey team loved working on these funny and sweet moments, there are new locations and new characters, and some great new music from Joff Bush and team,' a representative for Ludo Studio said. 'We really hope that our audience enjoy them as much as we did making them_._'
