Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have sparked so many engagement rumours over the past three years that it’s beginning to feel like they’re trolling us. And this week, fans were sent into meltdown after the Love Island star posted something seemingly suspicious on her Instagram story.
Posing in a mirror selfie with her arms filled with bunches of flowers, Molly grinned at the camera. So far, so standard – right? Wrong. Over the fourth finger on her left-hand Molly had placed a white heart emoji exactly where an engagement ring would sit. Hmm.
Obviously, the internet went into overdrive. ‘She’s engaged. The placement of that emoji,’ wrote one fan while other rushed to praise them for their social media sleuthing. In the story, Molly told her followers it had been her ‘favourite Sunday in a long while’, which (obviously) furthered the fan theory.
This isn’t the first time Molly has sent the rumour mill into overdrive by covering up her ring finger. In December last year when Tommy whisked her off to New York, fans were certain the pair had gotten engaged after she obscured her hand in some of the photos.
‘I’m getting a little bit sick and tired that every single person thinks Tommy is going to propose out here,’ she responded. ‘He booked this trip two days ago; it hasn’t been planned for long at all. I can promise you guys he is not proposing to me.’
‘I’m not saying that he won’t propose at some point in the next year, but I know this trip is not the one, so don’t get your hopes up.’
But almost four months has passed since Molly and Tommy’s trip to New York, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they could get engaged this April. ‘It’s you today, tomorrow, and every single day after that…’ she captioned a selfie of her and Tommy on Instagram this week. ‘My Forever,’ he commented in response.
Molly is yet to directly address the latest engagement speculation and seems to be keeping herself busy decking out their new house in Cheshire. So, it looks like we’ll just to settle for interior design content for now and keep our fingers crossed for the wedding spam later this year.
