Ever since its first episode over twenty years ago, Sex and the City has been dividing friendship groups into the Carries, the Charlottes, the Samanthas, and (supposedly) worst of all, the Mirandas. And I used to do the same thing and, I’m ashamed to admit, I was pretty certain of who I wanted to be: Carrie Bradshaw.

Yup, I was once team Carrie and I desperately wanted to be her: she had an easy job as a glam columnist for a newspaper. She lived in a ridiculously nice NYC apartment AND was also able to afford quite literally all of the shoes. And, crucial to her existence, Carrie Bradshaw was the centre of attention at all times. She was my dream.

Well, that dream was shattered very quickly when I re-watched the show in my twenties with a bit of the grown-up, rational perspective that Carrie desperately lacked through six seasons and two full blown feature films. I, like many of us, realised that Carrie is an absolute knob.

The plus side of this revelation was that it opened up my heart to the character who was most deserving of my respect and affection: Miranda. So, here's a celebration of Miranda's missed moments. She is who I want to be. Hand on heart. No backsies.
