Ever since the Love Island cast was announced, there has been a lot of intrigue around model Shannon Singh. The former page three girl comes across extremely cool with a natural confidence and easy charm that makes you either want to be her best mate, or be her.
Last night, we got to know more about Shannon when she chatted with partner Aaron Francis about what she does for a living. And it turns out, she’s cooler than ever. She’s not just a model with a big Instagram following, oh no… she’s also a DJ and gamer. Essentially, she’s the UK’s answer to Chantel Jeffries and Corinna Kopf combined – an Instagram model who really knows how to turn a following into cult fandom.
‘I’m a model, I used to do glamour so page three and what not, and then I went into e-commerce so for brands,’ Shannon explained, before delving into her social media work. ‘Then Instagram, YouTube, I game on Twitch, I play COD, I actually play it really good. I can DJ, I’m a gal of many talents.’
Of course, for anyone into gaming, hearing Shannon say she streams on Twitch was a focus-stealing moment. And when we say anyone, we mean everyone – judging by the Google search traffic that spiked at the mere mention on Shannon’s Twitch channel.
In the past 24 hours, ‘Shannon Love Island Twitch’ became the only major breakout search term for the entire show, of course with ‘Shannon Singh page three’ also thrown in there for good measure – because what is Love Island viewership without a few creeps desperate to see a woman’s tits.
What is Twitch?
The moment also made a splash on social media, with many asking to find out what Shannon Singh’s Twitch is. If you’re unfamiliar with Twitch, it’s a live streaming platform where gamers can play their video game of choice live while viewers watch at home. It may sound strange, but it’s big business. The biggest streamers on websites like Twitch become influencers in their own right, making serious money from monthly subscribers and brand deals.
As is classic with any hobby predominantly taken over by men, female gamers are often gatekept from platforms like Twitch (and just gaming in general), but those who make it often have huge followings. Instagram model Corinna Kopf, for example, skyrocketed her income when she began gaming online, signing an exclusive deal with Facebook gaming in 2019 that saw her leave behind almost half a million subscribers on Twitch.
What is Shannon Singh’s Twitch?
It’s no wonder there was so much intrigue around Shannon Singh’s Twitch then, which you can find here if you’re interested. She currently has near 2,000 followers. There’ll no doubt be the usual sexism that female gamers experience towards Shannon the more she opens up about gaming – with some already questioning how ‘good’ of a gamer she really is. It’s just like when a woman confesses her love for a particular rock band, and is made to name every single ever produced and the middle name of each band members first pet just to prove she’s a fan.
Alas, at least with doubt comes many more viewers for her channel, and many more pounds in her pocket. Go forth and game, Shannon, we’ll be watching with absolutely no clue what’s going on just to show the boys whose boss…
