Tensions were running high once again on last night's Love Island, in an episode which had Tom Clare at the core of a heated clash.
The 23-year-old footballer was frustrated when his team lost sports day, but little did he know the feelings would only be heightened by relentless goading from some of his islanders.
Farmer Will Young and airport security worker Shaq Muhammad were the main culprits, with their persistent teasing about Tom being a "sore loser" and "never winning anything".
The sportsman made it clear that he was growing tired of the constant digging, telling them in the bedroom, 'We've had a laugh, but it's done. You're in my ear all the time, and it's annoying me. I love you, but f*cking chill, yeah?'
Tom later vented to partner Samie Elishi, explaining, 'They were doing it too much. I told them to f*ck off. Sometimes they don't know when to chill.'
Ron Hall stepped in to say that 'after a while we are all going to give him a big hug and tell him we’re only playing', yet the jibes continued into the evening.
Still drawing on the earlier challenge, Shaq smirked, 'You're a grown man, chin up. You go again, get back on the training pitch, we go again. It's alright. It's just a game. Just winners and losers isn't it.'
Shaq's partner Tanya Manhenga was less than impressed. 'Are you done now?' she shot at him.
But he clearly wasn't, as he added, 'I say we go over there and let Samie give Tom a hug to calm down. You lost the game. It's a joke bro. It's a joke.'
'Why are you on me all the time?' Tom retorted. 'Just f*ck off man.'
'You are a grown man,' Shaq hit back. 'You lost a sports day challenge. Relax.'
It was a big talking point on Twitter, with one fan voicing, 'Although they were all pushing it, I think Shaq took it a step far because even Will piped down and you could tell he looked uncomfortable. There’s a line and Shaq crossed it, even saying he was doing it because he could see Tom was getting annoyed.'
Others brought up a previous episode, where Tom comforted Shaq after discovering some of Tanya's antics in Casa Amor during Movie Night.
'Tom being completely singled out and mocked is his payment for being there for Shaq at his lowest? God forbid. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.'
Another user implied that Shaq was being hypocritical after he previously lost his temper over Tanya being voted the best kisser in a challenge.
'Shaq telling Tom it’s just a game meanwhile he almost cried when Tanya lipsed every man in a game and won,' the tweet read.
Another credited Tom's patience, writing, 'I don’t think I’d have even lasted as long as Tom did before snapping.'
