As we near the finale of Love Island on Monday, this is usually the time of the season where scandal is replaced by smooching. The couples have settled, lovesick as ever, and we watch them partake in cute challenges, family reunions and heartfelt proposals. This year though, that seems to be turned on its head – if last night’s preview is anything to go by.
‘I just don't think we're right for each other,’ Liberty Poole is seen crying in the preview, taking her mic off before breaking down to the girls. Judging by how heartbroken she seems, it doesn't look good for her and Jake Cornish. Now, ‘Jake and Liberty split’ and ‘Love Island tomorrow night preview’ are trending on Google as viewers seek out spoilers for the episode.
So, do Jake and Liberty split in tonight’s episode of Love Island?
Well, according to ITV sources, Liberty does question Jakes feelings for her.
In a preview for the show shared with press, Liberty tells Faye 'I’ve got to be true to myself.' before adding 'I just don’t think we’re right for each other.'
After deciding to confront Jake about her feelings, she elaborates and explained to him that she's worried his feelings for her aren't genuine. 'I just don’t feel like that you love me for me and I want someone who loves me for me,' Liberty tells him.
'What we saying then, are we saying we’ll go our separate ways then?' he asks her - with reports confirming Liberty removes her bracelet in tonights episode.
Liberty has questioned Jake's integrity on more than one occasion, only last week deciding to stay with him despite the girls warning her that his love confession was 'convenient' timing. Viewers will no doubt be gutted to see Liberty upset, but after a season of doubting Jake's intentions with her it may also be a relief to watch her get her independence back.
If one thing is true, it's that Liberty's integrity certainly cannot be questioned. The couple have been together since the start, and despite viewers suspicions about Jake they were certainly in the running for the £50,000 prize money. To split up with Jake just days before the finale and risk if not relinquish her chances of winning the show? She's more decent than most.
