There’s no denying that Love Is Blind’s Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton were most viewers' favourite couple. In fact, after the finale aired there was an entire Twitter moment dedicated to eager fans demanding to know if they’re still together.
Now, they’ve given their first interview post-filming, and you’ll be glad to know that they are definitely still together. Talking to PEOPLE magazine, the loved-up couple opened up about the challenges they’ve faced since they got married on the show and, surprisingly, they’re not what you would think.
According to Lauren, the most difficult thing about their relationship coming from the show was the fact they had to keep it secret for an entire year and a half. In case you forget, the show was filmed in October 2018, so the couples weren’t allowed to give any spoilers to the public until it aired last month. You know what that means: no social media posting. And what is a modern-day marriage without being Instagram official?
‘It’s been so hard, especially throughout the holidays,’ Lauren told People. ‘For Christmas, I visited [Cameron’s family in] Maine, and it’s like I can’t even really post pictures of my family because we still have to keep it a secret. Same with the family dinners that we have with my dad. So many great moments that we’ve just shared in the past year and a half that we haven’t been able to share with the world.’
Of course, the couple have a plan to roll out the photos now that they’re spoiler-free. And luckily for us, we’ll get to see how their relationship grew as it happened back then.
‘Our relationship has evolved over time, of course, so it will be nice to show that evolution,’ Cameron said. ‘That’s a lot to catch people up on. I mean, we’re obviously fundamentally the same people in the core, but I think we’ve evolved with each other and in some ways mirrored each other, picked up each other’s mannerisms or elements of our personalities.’
And we’re not the only ones excited about seeing more of the couple. According to Lauren, her dad – who if you remember was quite the sceptic on the show – is elated with the world finally being privy to their great love.
‘My dad is over the moon,’ she said. ‘He tells everybody, so he’s very excited. We saw something somewhere and they called him “the old man.” He was like, “Who are they calling old?” But he’s just happy that our love is being portrayed in such a wonderful light, and that the world can finally see how happy we are.’
Honestly, reading the interview we could cry as much as we did watching the finale. It’s the happy ending we all deserve in this cold, stormy February.
