Our favourite deranged billionaires are back for the fourth and final season of Succession as we gear up to find out which Roy sibling has what it takes to run their family's media conglomerate. The season picks up not far from where it left off in season three, as Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) band together to take over from their dad Logan (Brian Cox). Meanwhile their deluded eldest brother Connor (Alan Ruck), not one to muddy his paws in family drama, continues to pursue his whimsical ambition of becoming the next US president.

And every presidential candidate, or so Connor believes, needs a good American woman by their side. That's where Willa (Justine Lupe) comes in.

Who does Justine Lupe play in Succession?

Justine plays Willa Ferreyra on the show – Connor Roy's long-suffering girlfriend (now fiancé) whose actual affection towards him is never confirmed or understood. Their relationship is almost the antithesis of a love story, but it serves them both well enough to keep going. For him, it allows him to be taken a tiny bit more seriously by his family and political contemporaries. For her, it grants her access to an incredibly healthy bank balance without having to do much at all.

At the end of season three, we see Connor propose to Willa at his mother's wedding in Italy by saying, 'will you make me the happiest man slash most bulletproof candidate in the world?' and she says 'f*ck it' and agrees with a reluctant shrug. True love! In the upcoming season, we can expect to see Connor crank things up a notch on his presidential campaign, and the pair finally getting married.

What films and TV shows has Justine Lupe been in?

Beyond her role in the hit HBO show, Justine Lupe-Schomp is an American actress best known for her roles on Mr. Mercedes, Cristela, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She grew up in Denver, Colorado and is a 2007 graduate of Denver School of the Arts theatre programme and 2011 graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City.

Her grandmother, Kay Schomp, has a theatre named after her at the Denver School of the Arts. Her father, John Lupe, is an exhibition specialist at the Denver Art Museum.

Speaking to the Independent about this being the final season of Succession, Justine explained how devastated she was to find out the experience was coming to an end. 'I went from 27 to 33 years old on this show, which is a huge transition from being kind of a girl into being a woman,' she said. 'I think that’s one of the things that’s the most heartbreaking about this being the end – the women on this show, we got really close, and they helped me through some really huge transitions in my life.'

Justine uses her Instagram (@mejustinelupe) to share personal photos and to promote her upcoming projects, including Succession of course. She also uses her platform to sing the praises of her co-stars.

After filming season three in 2020, she shared pictures of the cast on set with the caption: 'Congratulations my @hbo Succession fam! I love you endlessly and think you’re the dreamiest from top to bottom. Thank you all for being my dear friends. Season 3 is the light at the end of this kooky, warped, pandemic tunnel and I cannot wait to air-hug you all in whatever strange sci-fi set-up we conjure up eventually.'
