Whether it was Snooki falling over absolutely rotten, Pauly D screaming YEAH BUDDY every ten minutes or all of the random, somewhat disturbing hook-ups, Jersey Shore was filled with hilariously entertaining gems that defined many of our teen years. I, for one, still continue to fancy Pauly D despite the copious amounts of gel he puts in his hair, and will forever adore JWOWW’s rebellious fashion choices.
For anyone who was obsessed with the original reality-shore, the announcement that Jersey Shore is returning for another series, Jersey Shore Family Vacation, was as if a second Christmas was coming (or a second Brexit referendum, whichever). The trailer for the new series was released today and honestly, IT LOOKS AMAZING.
LITERALLY NO ONE HAS CHANGED. NOT ONE BIT. WE CANNOT WAIT.
They may have children now, they may have upcoming prison sentences, but Lord knows they’ll still drink 10,000 shots and jersey turnpike till the sun comes up.
We’re not the only ones who are counting down the hours until our beloved Jersey originals return. Twitter users went wild when the trailer was posted, reliving their 16-year old lives as full-grown adults.
Of course, one cast member is notably missing from the line-up: Sammi Sweetheart. And it’s not hard to figure out why, since the drama between her and her ex-boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz-Magro essentially took over every episode in the original series. Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi confirmed Ronnie was the likely reason Sammi isn’t returning on her podcast ‘It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey’, where she said:
‘Everyone’s asking why Sammi’s not doing it. You have to ask her that — I’m not gonna speak for her,
‘But Sammi is just in such a happy place that I feel like she doesn’t want to jump back into that drama if it does happen. And being that there was a lot of Ron and Sam drama when we did film, it was just really hard on both of them. So, I just think she doesn’t want that anymore.’
To be honest, we can live without the Sammi and Ronnie reunion, it wasn’t hard to see their relationship was far from healthy. What we can’t live without, is the Pauly D and Vinnie reunion, which, as the original reality TV bromance, will most likely have us crying from the get go. Even better, the Snooki and Deena reunion… just what mischief will the ‘meatballs’ get up to?
We’ll have to wait until the 5th of April to find out. You better believe we will be there at T-SHIRT TIME when it starts, Jersey turnpiking to the theme tune, eating meatballs and whole pickles, screaming YEAH BUDDY all the way through.
