I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is over for another year and Danny Jones was crowned winner in the 2024 final.
The McFly singer received the most votes leaving Coleen Rooney and Reverend Richard Coles in second and third place respectively.
And after spending the past three weeks taking on Bushtucker Trials and living alongside creepy crawlies in the I'm a Celebrity jungle, the three finalists had a lot to reflect on as they left camp.
After being crowned King of the Jungle, Danny told hosts Ant and Dec, ‘It feels amazing, I can’t even talk. It feels surreal.’
Addressing the public he added, ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I gave my all in there, I gave myself and it’s a lovely feeling to be liked. I appreciate it so much.’
Before being announced as winner, he told Ant and Dec, ‘I’ve learned so much about myself and that’s because of the campmates. The campmates in there were unbelievable, they made it so easy for us to get through the hard times.
‘I’ve had some of the hardest times I’ve ever had, and some of the highest of highs. I just tried to have fun along the way even though it scared every bone in my body. I just tried to be calm in the chaos.
‘It was way harder [than I thought it would be]. I hope it comes across on TV but it’s real in there. You’re hungry, you’re tired, you’re lethargic, and there’s lots of jobs to do. The chores are serious, but a bit of exercise is quite nice, but when your calories are so low it’s doubly hard.’
Although she finished in second place behind Danny, Coleen technically is still Queen of the Jungle as the highest placing female contestant this year.
When asked what it would mean to be crowned, Wayne Rooney’s wife told Ant and Dec, ‘It would be an honour to be crowned Queen of the Jungle. It’s a massive show that me and my family love watching.
‘But I think for the boys, they’ve been proud of their dad for so long so to be proud of their mum would be nice. It’s my turn now.’
And she couldn't help but slip into her role as a mum while in camp.
She said, ‘I took on a role of being mum in there, not mum to people, but just mum around camp, I wanted to do things to keep me busy.
‘It was hard, it was hard to not keep myself busy, I got bored so easily in there and that’s something I never get, I haven’t got time to be bored. But it gave me time to think about me and my strengths and weaknesses and how I get so much comfort in having my loved ones around me.
‘There was one morning where I had a bit of a wobble and thought I’m really missing them now but then I thought, no, they want me to carry on, they want me to go further. It was a strange experience.’
But what is the biggest lesson Coleen is taking away from camp?
‘I’ve learned that I can be patient, my kids mightn’t say that. But there’s been times in there where no-one’s annoyed me but I’ve wanted to step in and do it but I’ve let it be, so I’m going to be a bit more patient when I get out of here.
‘But, also, it’s ok to think about yourself, and you should do. I go about life just wanting to do things properly and correctly but it’s ok if things don’t get done and you can put things aside and take time to do something for yourself or enjoy time with your loved ones.’
Reverend Richard Coles was surprised to make it into the final three, saying in the Bush Telegraph after Oti Mabuse’s shock fourth place elimination, ‘I can’t believe I’m one of the final three, I never thought I would make it this far.
‘All I can do is repay my trust by giving it my best shot, so that’s what I’m going to do. I’ll try and get to the end of it without collapsing.’
Speaking to Ant and Dec after leaving the jungle, he said, ‘It’s not what I thought it was going to be. I thought there’d be luxury spas just off camera and we’d all be looked after. Not the case.
‘It was much harder than I thought it would be, but that was great. The lows were lower, and the highs were higher, it was the lows that made the highs.
‘But the best part was everybody else, we had such a great time. You’ll never get the chance to be with that group of people and do something so unusual again.’
He added that his time on I’m A Celebrity was ‘a life-enhancing experience.’
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!: Coming Out airs Friday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
