The MVP of Bridgertonseason two? Eloise Bridgerton, the feminist icon of the ton, continues to make us die of laughter in every scene. Ever since her hilarious outburst in season one, 'How does a lady come to be with child?' in front of a horrified Daphne Bridgerton, we knew she was going to be our favourite.

This season fans were delighted to see Eloise starting to form a romantic connection with Theo Sharpe. Their Romeo and Juliet style love story had us all on the edge of our seats. Theo Sharpe is a handsome working class man, whilst Eloise is from one of the most elite families in society. So, while their growing love is forbidden amongst the upper class, we couldn't help but root for the star crossed lovers. But do Eloise and Theo end up together in the books?

Who does Eloise Bridgerton marry in the books?

We all know Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn's eight-series novels. According to the novels Eloise and Theo do not end up together. In fact, Theo doesn't feature in the books at all. Theo is a brand new character made for the TV show and probably to give Eloise more of a storyline this season.

According to the novel, To Sir Phillip, With Love, she actually ends up marrying Sir Phillip Crane. Fans will know Sir Phillip is currently married to Marina Thompson, the distant cousin of the Featheringtons who nearly wed Colin Bridgerton. Juicy!

In the books, Phillip is a widower after SPOILER ALERT Marina's unfortunate death. Once hearing about Marina's passing Eloise sends a letter of condolence to Sir Phillip, and thus their love story begins. Over time Eloise spends more one-on-one time with Phillip and his twins and gets to know the family.

Her elder brother eventually catches them getting cosy and demands the pair wed to protect her honour. In true Bridgerton fashion, they eventually realise they are desperately in love with each other - but will the TV show actually follow the books? We will have to wait and see.

A fan on Twitter commented, 'I don’t care about Eloise’s storyline in the books. Girl boss Eloise needs her politically radical Theo and their rich girl poor boy forbidden love trope or SO HELP ME GOD.'

Executive Producer Shona Rhimes previously told ET Online that she wants each sibling to get the air time to delve into each of their love stories. She revealed, 'It depends on how much Netflix will want to continue with us. I would like to focus on each eight siblings and tell the love stories of each of them.'

Whilst the books lead to Sir Phillip Crane, could the adoration the fans have for Theo Sharpe change this in future seasons?
