Selling Tampa – the reality TV God’s have certainly answered our prayers with this one (well, the Selling Sunset creators.) In Selling Tampa, we follow Sharelle Rosaro’s brokerage in Tampa, Florida called Allure Realty. This all female, minority brokerage is historical, and breathes new life into this new genre of real estate reality TV we all crave.

After many of us binge watched Selling Sunsetseries 4 in a matter of days, Selling Tampa has been the perfect replacement to fill the void. The drama might even be, dare I say…juicer than Selling Sunset. The ladies are glamorous, houses are just as big, and the drama is definitely not scarce.

One agent that has fans talking is Rena Upshaw-Frazier. Fan’s are here for her straight talking and ability to stand up for herself. However, the main question everyone wants answered is, does Rena ACTUALLY starts her own brokerage after the finale?

The whole series it is teased that Rena might start her own brokerage after feeling undervalued by Sharelle and Allure Realty. Their main source of friction comes from the changing commission splits – which makes Rena take drastic action. She even visits potential office spaces and attempts to recruit fellow Allure agents Colony Reeves and Anne-Sophie Petit-Frere. However, the series ends before we could find out the outcome - much to everyone’s disappointment.

'I’ve really been toying with the idea of starting my own brokerage and going out on my own,' Rena tells Colony and Anne-Sophie.

After doing some digging, we can confirm that Rena HAS started her own brokerage - we smell drama brewing. According to her website, Upshaw-Frazier has her own office at 1925 East 6th Avenue, a mere 10 minutes away from Allure Realty’s Tampa offices. However, Upshaw-Frazier’s site includes the Allure Realty brand, which poses the question... does Sharelle still have some input into Rena'swork outside of Allure ?

According to Allure’s website, Upshaw-Frazier still works for Rosado. But now, the Netflix star is listed as a Broker Associate at Allure Realty. This is a significant change from her previous role and in comparison to the other agents. According to Brokerage Express, Brokerage Associates generally earn more than the average real estate agent because they tend to have more successful sales agent experience, and a broker associate license. Associate Brokers can even negotiate their own rates during a real estate transaction. After Rena was fighting for a better commission split, I’m sure this new role will be a welcomed change for her.

However, as we have seen, the ladies of Allure Realty are not fans of certain ladies getting preferential treatment by Sharelle. So, this role change will be a source of tension if the show gets picked up for series 2.

Who is Rena-Upshaw-Frazier?

Rena was one of the first real estate agents at Allure Realty, and is credited throughout the show with helping to build the reputation of the company. She joined the brokerage in 2019 and used to be very close friends with owner Sharelle.

Her bio on the Allure website states that Rena has made it her goal to bring “the excitement back to buying, selling, and designing properties,” by combining her background in real estate law, a knack for beautiful design, and love for Tampa Bay.

Rena opens up about motherhood on social media. On an Instagram post she penned, “Being a mother is one of my greatest joys, and my kids have enriched my life in so many ways. I was 9 months pregnant with Aja when I took the bar exam. I remember being in the exam room, and my stomach was so big it was pressed up against the table. I could barely reach over it to write.

"I kept having Braxton-Hicks contractions and was sweating because I was so nervous. I kept praying that I didn’t go into labor because I had studied so hard and didn’t want to have to study and take the test again,” she wrote. “When I finished the exam, I had a huge feeling of relief. Aja was born 2 days later, and I passed the exam! I always say she’s so smart because I studied for the bar while I was pregnant with her.”
