Olivia Attwood has weighed in on the friendship that’s got everyone talking on this year’s Celebrity Big Brother. With her ex-boyfriend, Chris Hughes of Love Island fame, cosying up to dancer JoJo Siwa – who has a partner outside the house – everyone has been talking about whether the friendship is venturing beyond the platonic – and Attwood has thoughts.
‘Seeing as you all keep asking,’ Olivia captioned the TikTok, before going on to say, ‘I want to talk about Big Brother, but I don’t want to get accused of swiping… [but] just because I dated someone who is on it a million years ago doesn’t mean I can’t talk about it. I’m not swiping, I’m just commentating.’
Naturally, the TV and radio presenter – who starred on Love Island with Hughes but has gone onto a successful presenting career – is hesitant to comment on any drama on the show knowing it involves her ex. That being said, he’s also become the biggest talking point of the season. Despite many predicting he would end up dating fellow reality star Ella Rae Wise (Attwood included), his friendship with Siwa has fast become a huge source of commentary.
Why? Because viewers are convinced that the friendship isn’t so platonic at all. The pair gush about each other at every opportunity, regularly cuddle and stroke each other in bed, and have recently been making comments some might interpret as flirting. Many are now concluding that their friendship is becoming romantic and have raised questions about the 11-year age gap between them (Hughes is 32 and Siwa is 21).
To add more complexity to the story, there’s also the fact that Siwa publicly identifies as gay and is in a relationship outside the house with actor Kath Ebbs. Ebbs was vocally supportive of Siwa when they first went into the house but has remained silent since viewers started questioning Siwa and Hughes friendship – recently disabling their comment section after trolls began to taunt them.
Siwa came out as pansexual in 2021, later going on to self-describe as ‘gay’ and while some took that to mean ‘lesbian’, it should be said that gay can also be used an umbrella term for many sexualities – pansexuality included. So, while Siwa’s sexual orientation might be confusing to some (and it certainly is causing a storm on social media), it’s not when you consider they once told PEOPLE magazine ‘Technically I would say that I am pansexual, because that's how I have always been my whole life is just like, my human is my human.’
Viewers are now questioning whether Hughes and Siwa’s potential romance is the reason for tension in the house between Hughes and Wise, some accusing Wise of being jealous. For Attwood, that’s far from the truth and actually, her take on the friendship is… intriguing.
‘Okay so my prediction for Ella and Chris getting together was wrong but I feel like it was an obvious prediction to make,’ she starts. ‘Actually, this [Jojo and Chris’ friendship] makes sense. I don’t think Ella is jealous…I think she sees something. Jojo is very young and very famous…’
Many viewers took Attwood’s video to mean that she’s not convinced the friendship is entirely real on Hughes part, and that he may excited by Siwa’s global popularity. Siwa has been famous since appearing on Dance Moms aged 11 and currently has 11million followers on Instagram. Could Wise be thinking the same and that’s why she’s being standoffish with Hughes? Time will tell – it’s certainly an opinion many have supported online.
When one commenter suggested that they just have great chemistry, Attwood replied ‘I’m not saying it’s totally fake at all – they deffo genuinely get on on some level.’ And when another viewer commented ‘Finally someone agrees, I don’t think Ella is jealous either she’s honest and people can’t take it,’ Attwood liked the comment.
So, that’s our favourite reality TV commentators opinion on the matter… what’s yours?
