In The Traitors, a game based around trust and deception, the ability to keep a secret – and, to keep it well – is key. Already, we've seen fake accents, hidden professions, and secret alliances. And with the final now upon us, some have been more successful than others when it comes to straight-faced lying.
But could there be more going on than meets the eye? Throughout the series, eagle-eyed viewers speculating there are secret familial relations between some of the cast - including a theory that two of the contestants are secretly married.
The contestants in question were Traitor Charlotte and Faithful Alexander. One TikTok user, who goes by the handle @sammyleasretroemporium, shared a video of Charlotte and Alexander talking earlier in the series, with text that said 'Anyone else think these two are actually a couple in real life?' In the caption, the user went into more detail. They wrote: 'Hear me out...She's admitted she's putting on a Welsh accent...tricky to maintain for weeks...yet is a very well spoken Londoner. He is also based in London.'
She continued: 'Tonight when playing the cage game, Charlotte gave Alexander a huge smile as she dropped a coin in to lower him, and he over compensated by shouting "Thank you, I don't know you but thank you." Followed by the flirty body language in their interactions later that night. Thoughts?'
The video amassed almost 5k likes and over a hundred comments. Some disagreed with the user's theory, writing 'No way. Wouldn't put those two together,' while another wrote 'why does everyone think everyone is connected.' Others agreed, with one user writing 'I said the exact same thing last night' and another agreeing, writing 'this was my exact thought watching that moment!'
We hate to be the ones to break it to you, but Alexander and Charlotte are not married. Confusingly, Charlotte is married to someone called Alexander, but he's not the one on the show. She often shares pictures of her life with him on Instagram, alongside her love of hiking and her black Labrador. As for Alexander from The Traitors UK, Claudia did announce to viewers that he was single during one challenge...
This isn't the first theory to pop up about secret relationships on The Traitors UK. One viral theory suggests that Francesca and newly recruited Traitor Freddie were mother and son, after the pair formed an endearing bond on the show. The theory was furthered after an intense round table discussion, where Freddie narrowly avoided elimination and became upset - particularly with the fact that Francesca had voted for him to be banished.
'Seeing Frankie vote for me, that felt like a knife through the heart,' he added at the time. 'Frankie's like a mum to me in here, so that was really upsetting.' This came after Francesca admitted she has a son who is Freddie's age. Naturally, social media quickly exploded with theories that Frankie was Francesca's son.
Another theory which started on Reddit speculated that contestants Alex Oleksyand Lisa Coupland were also related. One wrote 'There’s definitely another relationship reveal to come and this is a fair shout,' and a fourth owned, 'I did think they looked very similar in terms of facial structure. Not sure if it’ll end up being the case, but it would be a good twist.'
Some fans also put forward that Dan and Joe were actually brothers, claiming the pair look alike. The theory was fuelled after Dan and Joe bickered following the roundtable on Wednesday, which ended with Dan rolling his eyes at Joe. Brotherly love, anyone?
There's even a theory that Dan could be Linda's grandson, because the bank risk manager often supported her over rows at the roundtable! Leave it to The Traitors to keep us guessing.
