It’s here, it’s finally here! The trailer for Bridget Jones’ Diary number four aka Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy has landed at last and now we’re counting down the days until we can finally head to the cinema and see the full film.

So, we already knew that the cast consisted of returning faves Renée Zellweger (as the titular Bridget Jones) and Hugh Grant (Daniel Cleaver) as well as newbies Leo Woodall, Isla Fisher and Chiwetel Ejiofor, but the specifics of the storyline have been kept pretty under wraps – for those of us who haven’t read the Helen Fielding book of the same name, that is.

Now that the trailer for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is here though, we’ve started to get a better idea of what to expect.

Several years on from the end of the last film, Bridget Jones’ Baby, Bridget is now a mother of two and sadly a widower, following the death of her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). It’s not immediately obvious how long Mark Darcy – who will seemingly be returning in a series of flashbacks and visions – has been dead for, but it’s clearly been long enough for all of Bridget’s close friends Shazza (Sally Phillips), Tom (James Callis) and Jude (Shirely Henderson) as well as Miranda (Sarah Solemani) to be encouraging her to get back out there.

And she does. But being Bridget Jones, it seems that yet again she’ll be stuck in the middle of a love triangle. This time between Leo Woodall as a 29 year old gardener called Roxster and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mr Wallaker – a teacher at her children’s school.

Despite it having been eight years since the last film was released, the fourth film seems completely in tone with the ones that came before it. Namely: funny, emotional, a little bit silly and of course very charming.

Safe to say, we’re now counting down the days until Valentine’s Day 2025 to find out exactly what’s going on.
