The And Just Like That And The O.C. Crossover We Never Knew We Needed

In the ultimate crossover of our favourite 90s and 00s TV shows, Trey Atwood from The O.C. has been cast in And Just Like That. You remember Trey? The problematic – but oh so crushable (except for a few very dubious storylines) - elder brother of Ryan who stays with him and the Cohens after his release from prison. Played by Logan Marshall-Green, who took over the role from Bradley Stryker in series two, we're set to see our favourite bad boy make a reappearance on the new series of the SATC spin-off.

Since leaving The O.C. Logan has starred in multiple series like Traveler and When They See Us – the Netflix drama about The Central Park Five from Ava DuVernay, as well as the films Upgrade and How It Ends.

While nothing has been revealed about Logan’s upcoming role on AJLT – which is currently filming in New York - it has been confirmed that he will be a recurring guest alongside Mehcad Brooks and Jonathan Cake.

Speaking of 00s throwbacks, you may recognise Mehcad Brooks from Desperate Housewives. Mehcad played Matthew Applewhite in series two of Desperate Housewives – the seemingly well-behaved brother of Caleb who is kept locked in the basement. We say seemingly because *spoiler alert* it turns out that he was actually a murderer and should have been the one locked in his mother’s basement!

Since Desperate Housewives, Mehcad has played James Olsen in Supergirl as well as Detective Jalen Shaw on Law & Order - as well as two of the hit show’s spinoffs Law & Order: Organized Crime and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

And in a weird twist of fate, it turns out that Jonathan Cake – who has also joined the cast of AJLT series three - also starred on Desperate Housewives back in the day. He played Chuck Vance, the detective who dated Bree in series seven and eight before eventually being run over by Bree’s ex-husband Orson. Since then, Jonathan – who actually hails from Worthing in England and so might have a British accent on the show – has had smaller roles in the TV series The Affair and Stargirl.

Honestly, Logan Marshall-Green, Mehcad Brooks and Jonathan Cake have played such dramatic characters in The O.C. and Desperate Housewives, that And Just Like That might seem pretty tame in comparison. Their casting follows the announcement that Sebastiano Pigazzi aka Giuseppe and Dolly Wells aka Joy have been elevated to series regulars on AJLT.
