Team Miranda, or team Steve? Well, if you're anything like us - and eventhe women who work on And Just Like That - then you're probably team Steve. How could Miranda cheat on him when they reunited on the Brooklyn Bridge (after he cheated) in the first movie?! But AJLT{
'I want to say one other thing about Steve and Miranda, because I've heard a lot about how could they be here after they were on the bridge in the first movie,' Michael said on the writers' podcast The Writers Room. 'And yes, that was an incredibly incredibly emotional commitment to each other.'
But he then goes on to remind everyone about whenMiranda - then a very sensible lawyer - made a list of Steve's pros and cons before reuniting with him. And that she went with her heart instead of the list, thanks to seeing her milk moustache in the mirror.
'But what people tend to forget is the moment before [the bridge] that Miranda's looking at a list, pros and cons, and the cons on the list far outweigh the pros,' he continues. 'And she actually gets up and goes to the bridge because she sees the milk moustache on her face, which reminds her that her and Steve once had a laugh over that[...] A giant swell of feeling seven years ago doesn't mean that wasn't authentic. right? But that was what they were feeling in that moment.'
What we're yet to find out is just what will happen with Miranda, and whether it'll be worth her leaving behind her stable (yet unhappy and sexless) life with Steve for Che. But as Michael continued, Miranda is now in a totally different place in her life (both work and relationship wise). 'Miranda's in a different place, and the bridge exists in their history,' he added. 'And guess what so does zombie sex, but our job is not to [always] facilitate in fairy tales.'
