Serena Williams Is Delighted When Friend Meghan Markle Wears One Of Her Designs In Australia
By Rebecca Holman Posted on 17 Oct 2018
Meghan Markle knows that we’ll be dissecting every outfit she wears on her royal tour – with many items featured likely to sell out instantly. So it’s probably no coincidence that she’s wearing an blazer designed by her friend Serena Williams. The pair are old friends who first met at a Super Bowl party in 2010, long before Meghan met Prince Harry. Serena and her husband Alexia Ohanian attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May.
In this instance, Meghan wore the ‘Serena’ Boss oversized blazer (which costs $203, or £109) with a pair of black high-rise jeans by Australian brand The Outland, which cost $199, a Maison Kitsune button-down collar shirt for $75 and ankle boots by J.Crew, which cost $318.
Serena Williams obviously reacted with excitement on Instagram at the news that Meghan was showcasing one of her designs (because she’s only human, and the first thing you do when a top tier royal is spotted showcasing one of your designs, you 100% shout about it on Instagram), and of course the blazer sold out within a couple of hours

The Duchess Of Sussex has got form for showcasing her friend’s clothes - on her first public outing with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games way back in September 2017 (seriously, how was that only 13 months ago?) she wore an oversized white shirt designed by her friend Misha Nonoo, who is sometimes credited with introducting the pair). Nonoo has since dubbed the shirt ‘the husband shirt’ as it’s the one that ‘seals the deal.’
