Cute Dogs In Halloween Costumes To Brighten Up Your Dreary Tuesday

Is it just us, or did the clocks going back an hour actually make us more tired? After a long, fabulous summer, these 4.30pm sunsets and frosted windows are not a welcome change. Luckily, Halloween is here to save us from eternal misery with an opportunity for dressing up our pets in adorable costumes and give our Tuesday afternoon some sweet relief.

As with every great trend, it was taken to new heights in New York City this weekend, at the Tompkins Square Halloween Parade. The parade was hit with a heavy blow in August when residents were told their yearly beloved event had been cancelled because, according to longtime organiser Garrett Rosso (aka our future husband), 'The Parks Department is asking for a large insurance and liability policy in order to hold the event this year—and we simply don’t have the funds or sponsor willing to provide it.'

However, by grace of a local grassroots civic organization called Good Old Lower East Side (GOLE) who agreed to take responsibility for the insurance policy should anything go wrong, the parade went ahead. Moving to a new location, the event was televised by ESPN who also gave $10,000 to the City Parks Foundation, which will go to supporting the Tompkins Square Park Dog Run. Does this not sound like the best community in the world? Seriously... when can we move there?

With 500 dogs taking part last year and even more this year (plus 25,000 humans but you know that's neither here nor there when there's dogs involved ) there were hundreds of adorable tiny fur balls to coo at.
