Lockdown may be easing, the sun may finally be shining, but nothing says being British like finding the down side of everything: that is, hay fever season is upon us. That’s right, our itchy eyes and scratchy throats have all returned with a vengeance these past few weeks – perfect timing for us all finally having social lives again.
All cynicism aside, hay-fever is one of those things that acts as a true testament to how Brits will drink through literally anything. It doesn’t matter if we’re sneezing every ten seconds, or our eyes are streaming for hours, we will get out in the summer and drink the beer gardens dry anyway.
In fact, it unites us in a way – at least, the hay fever memes do. No sooner than our nose began running were the hay fever memes all over our social media feeds, brightening up what is often an annoying, relentless condition.
With that in mind, we’ve scoured the internet for the best hay fever memes we can find – all to put a smile on your face knowing, you won’t be the only one looking puffy in the pub this weekend. Honestly with face masks and puffy eyes, we should be calling hot girl summer hay fever summer this year.

What one was the most relatable for you? Our favourite has to be 'When you mix hayfever medicine with alcohol...again.' Nothing says spring/summer in Britain like drowning your sorrows (or should we say, sneezes) in gin. But hey, gin is apparently a great way to soothe hay fever symptoms - check out the stories below for more on that.
In the mean time, we'll be sipping our gin and tonic while shopping online for tissues, antihistamines and a full Leonardo DiCaprio style summer outfit. Being covered head to toe in layers might not look so strange in the UK summer months to be honest - at least not when the sun decides it's had enough of us and goes back to hiding all year. But we'll take the sun and sneezing while it lasts...
