We’re Calling It Now: Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’ Is Going To Be The First-Dance Wedding Song Of 2020

And the main thing we've learned from the lyrics, so far, is that Joe Alwyn is a really, really great boyfriend...

I'm just going to put my hand up and say this: Taylor Swift's new album has absolutely slain me. I have bopped in front of my mirror with a glass of wine applying mascara to 'ME', sobbed to 'Archer' and now that the title song of her new album has been released, 'Lover': I am of course, in love with that too (no puns intended).

If you were born between the years of 1990-98, the Taylor Swift was a rite of passage: have you ever had a scrappy fall-out with your best friend and listened to 'Mean'? Or jigged to '22'? Or had your music taste disparaged by an ex-boyfriend and reflected on the words of the woman herself: 'go listen to some indie record that's much cooler than mine' and felt a bit better? You haven't lived.

There truly is a Taylor for every occasion, including recently-inaugurated 'drunk Taylor' (once again: so relatable). So it's no surprise that the internet has a lot to say about her new song 'Lover' which was released to day. The title track of her new album was dropped this morning, ahead of it's release which is slated for August the 23rd.

Naturally her new lyrics are making us feel all kind of things, and draw some tenuous comparisons to her relationship with North Londoner Joe Alwyn('Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?') - which has been mostly kept out of the public eye and which we're becoming very invested in.

But there's also a retrospective, thoughtful and reflective undertow to some of the lyrics and particularly to her two most recently released songs from the album (including Archer). It wouldn't be surprising that this signifies a deeper reflection on Taylors personal life as a running theme in the upcoming album. It would also make sense - given she's recently re-built some burned bridges, most publicly with Katy Perry with whom she had a long-running and highly publicised feud.

Essentially - we're happy Taylor's happy: but some people on Twitter are really happy she's happy - even going so far as to predict 'Lover' as the first-dance wedding song of 2020. And why not? As Taylor's most romantic album to date, we couldn't think of a better fit.

While we're counting the days until the new album is dropped, here are the best tweets we've seen so far from people who liked 'Lover' so much that they want to literally get married to it...
