You might not be best pleased with the election result - but, at least it’s been a good day for music: Harry Styles and Stormzy have released their second albums. On both, the stars address previous relationships. On Heavy Is the Head Stormzy admits cheating on Maya Jama for the first time, and similarly on Fine Line, Harry Styles sings about the breakdown of a relationship.
While he made headlines earlier this week for playing Spill Your Guts, Fill Your Guts with ex Kendall Jenner, and refusing to address which songs on his debut record were about her - on his second album, Harry is a lot more obvious about who he's referring to.
Fine Line touches on his relationship with his ex, Camille Rowe, who he was rumoured to be dating from 2017-2018. If you needed any further hint, he included a voicemail from the model, in French, at the end of track Cherry. (Translated: ‘Hello! Are you asleep?’ ‘Oh, I’m sorry…’ ‘Well, no… No, it’s not important,’ ‘Well… We went to the beach and we…’ ‘Perfect’)
Harry has also opened up about his decision to use the voicemail on the track. ‘When we listened back to the album, I asked her to add it in,’ he told Apple’s Zane Lowe in a recent interview. ‘I wanted ['Cherry'] to reflect how I felt then. I was feeling not great. It’s all about being not great. Because, you get petty when things don’t go the way you want it. There’s parts that’s so pathetic.’
More pointedly, in the song’s bridge, Harry sings, 'Does he take you walking ’round his parents’ gallery?' referring to art gallery owner Theo Niarchos, who appeared on Camille‘s Instagram earlier this year. On track Falling, he also heavily suggests he cheated on the Victoria's Secret model, singing, 'I'm in my bed and you're not here. And there's no one to blame but the drink and my wandering hand.’
Harry Styles might be enigmatic, but on this album he’s leaving no mystery about his relationship with Camille.
