Right now, as the Olympics 2021 continues, all anyone can talk about is Tom Daley. The Olympic diver won his first ever gold medal today alongside Matty Lee, in the 10m synchro category that saw both men pull off the perfect synchronised dive.

The medal has got the whole country applauding the two Olympians. With 'Tom Daley' trending on Google this morning, everyone seems to want to get up to date with his Olympic background so far. 'Tom Daley in Rio' is currently a breakout search term, as well as 'Tom Daley winning dive', 'Tom Daley winning gold video' and 'Tom Daley and Matty Lee dive'.

Of course, they're also Googling 'Tom Daley son' and 'Tom Daley husband' - because what even is being British without nosing into people's family lives, right? Unfortunately, both Tom Daley's husband and son are unable to attend the Tokyo Olympics due to Covid restrictions - but according to the diver, they'll be cheering him on from home.

When is Tom Daley diving again?

Competing in both the men’s 10m platform and 10m synchro – we will see Tom dive again for his main event in 11 days.

On Friday, August 6th, the men’s 10m platform preliminaries will take place between 7am and 9.30am BST. The next day, on Saturday 7th August, the semi-final and final will take place for that event where Tom will compete from 2am-3.40am BST for the semi-finals, and 7am-8.25am for the finals.

The diving competition will be held at Tokyo Aquatics Centre, with Tom’s biggest competition at his main event dubbed 2019 world champion Yang Jian – representing China – and silver medallist Yang Hao – also representing China.

Who else is on the Olympic diving team for Great Britain?

Tom Daley is one of 12 in the British diving team, alongside Eden Cheng from London, Daniel Goodfellow from Cambridge, James Heatly from Edinburgh and Jack Laugher, from Harrogate. The rest of the diving squad include Matty Lee from Leeds, Scarlett Mew Jensen from London and Grace Reid from Edinburgh, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix from London,

Katherine Torrance from Leeds, Lois Toulson also from Leeds and Noah Williams from London.

Most of the team are making their Olympic debut this year, but for Tom this will be his fourth Olympics after making his debut at Beijing in 2008.
