Mark Ronson has apologised after saying he identifies as sapiosexual.
He made the original statement on Good Morning Britain recently, after listening to a discussion with sexpert Nichi Hodgson, who explained that she considers herself to fall in love with people's brains, not their sex or gender.
Ronson told the presenters: 'I didn’t know that there was a word for it, but I was really enjoying that segment. We were all arguing in the dressing room with a couple of your producers. And yes, I feel like I identify as sapiosexual.'
But now, Ronson has told Rolling Stone, 'I do not consider myself part of any marginalised community and I apologise if anybody misunderstood or took offence to it.'
His statement comes after there was an online backlash after his “coming out”, with many saying the language should be reserved for members of the LGBT+ community.
If you are a sapiosexual then you're attracted to a person's intelligence and the workings of the human mind, rather than someone's physical appearance, sex or gender identity.
You can be gay, bisexual, straight or any other orientation, as well as being sapiosexual.
