Trying on your wedding dress{
OK, so a bit more context, the bride-to-be posted her dilemma on Reddit, saying that she finally got an appointment at a bridal boutique, as most have been fully booked with appointments up until 2023, due to all the weddings postponed due to Covid. When she invited her mum, her mum 'reminded [her] the appointment coincides with her weekly yoga class which she has been attending for 20 years'. Yikes.
The bride-to-be then asked commenters if she was an asshole for inviting her mother-in-law instead - as her mother is now very upset, and refusing to attend the wedding. The poster asked: 'I am so grateful that my MIL can attend and we can share something special but I would hate for my parents to miss my wedding because they feel so excluded. My mom has told me that she will use this experience as an indicator for how I will behave for the rest of my life, and that she is clearly lower down on the priority list than my future in-laws. She has also said that she feels I vindictively chose the appointment time to purposefully exclude her. Am I the asshole for not trying harder to include my mom in a special mother-daughter moment?'
Well, unsurprisingly, most people think the bride-to-be hasn't done anything wrong - and that her mum maybe should have rearranged the yoga class she has been going to for 20 years. As one person suggested maybe she should 'REALLY push the issue: schedule an early morning wedding that conflicts with the yoga class and see what she does.'
