The stuff of nightmares has happened. Former president of the United States, Donald Trump on GBNews. No, I didn't watch it (because I didn't want my eyes to roll to the back of my head), but reports tell me that - obviously - some problematic things were said, as you'd imagine would be the case when Nigel Farage and Donald Trump are having a chat.
When Harry and Meghan came up in conversation, Trump said he was 'not a fan of hers [Meghan]' 'from day one'. But worse, he said that Harry had been 'used horribly' by the former actress - and that he will 'someday regret it'. Trump added: 'I think it’s ruined his relationship with his family, and it hurts the Queen.'
While we obviously weren't hoping for anything reasonable to come out of the mouth of a man who literally couldn't accept he lost an election, unfortunately, a lot of people think Trump is speaking sense, and that Harry has been 'used' by Meghan for fame and fortune.
But this paints Harry as an angel, and Meghan as a scheming woman only looking out for herself. It obviously isn't true, and ignores the fact that Harry was already unhappy about being a royal, and the way him and his late mother Diana were treated by the British press. On his shock appearance on Dax Shephard's The Armchair Expert in May, he pretty much confirmed that the decision to leave the royal family was nothing new - saying he'd thought about leaving The Firm in his 20s.
Marrying Meghan and having a child only will have encouraged him to make a decision to which he'd already given a lot of thought. Yes, he wanted to do what was best for his family, but it doesn't meant Meghan was the cause, or that she brainwashed or used him.
Meghan being blamed is nothing new, though. As Harry pointed out earlier this year, the term Megxit is 'misogynistic'. And it is, as it doesn't include the fact that he also left the royal family too. He has a brain, and is capable of thinking for himself, which many people ignore when they place all the blame on Meghan.
But, after all, maybe Trump has a personal reason not to like the couple, as we're sure he remembers that they endorsed Joe Biden before the last election... Just saying.
