Another day, another cry for attention by Piers Morgan. This time though, it’s resulted in an adorable series of baby pictures so we’re more than happy to comment. After trolling Daniel Craig on Twitter for using a papoose to carry his baby, the dads of social media have come out in defense of James Bond and posted their own pictures using a papoose.
Posting a picture of Daniel Craig at 7.31am this morning (who has the energy for trolling at that hour?), Piers captioned the image ‘Oh 007.. not you as well?!!! #papoose #emasculatedBond’.
YES, you read that right. Using a papoose is emasculating! Men should ONLY carry babies in their arms lest their masculinity immediately disappear and they become… GASP SHOCK HORROR, feminine! Tell your sons, brothers, boyfriends, ladies, femininity is on the rise amongst men and it MUST be stopped! We cannot let this social construct infiltrate the male gender!!
Seriously though, many people have commented on the fragility of Pier’s masculinity should he think using a papoose is emasculating, including Chris Evans, who plays Captain America and so, similarly to James Bond, a character that is meant to embody masculinity.
And now, the dads of Twitter have started their own thread of images using papooses and we’re obsessed.

While the responses are of course giving Piers all of the attention he so greatly craves (because nothing says masculinity like validating your self-worth based on the attention of others… or did I spell immaturity wrong), the thread is doing more than just appeasing Piers boredom.
With a following as large as his (6.48 million on Twitter), you can’t underestimate the necessity of these replies to normalise and encourage men to share the responsibility of childcare, regardless of what they use to do it. Trolling men as being emasculated for using papooses only adds to the embarrassment that they could feel undertaking their share of the labour because they’re raised to believe it’s typically a woman’s job. It might be a joke to Piers, but it’s not necessary at a time when women are STILL undertaking the majority of unpaid labour and shared parental leave is only at 3%, both of which contribute to the gender pay gap.
The biggest takeaway from this though? Daniel Craig needs to become the poster boy for equal parenting responsibilities. Clearly, if anyone is going to encourage men to share parental leave, unpaid labour and in turn tackle the gender pay gap… it’s James Bond.
