It’s a slow news day when a man’s fresh haircut makes the headlines, but frankly it’s all anyone is talking about on Twitter. Michael B Jordan, the handsome prince of Hollywood and notorious catch for A-list women, has shaved his head.
Spotted on a date with long-term girlfriend Lori Harvey, pictures of Michael’s new look have gone viral on Twitter after one user posted the images with the caption: ‘Grow it back immediately.’
Near 10,000 likes and a whole host of retweets later, everyone is now discussing Michael B. Jordan’s hairstyling on the timeline. The most pertinent debate: how much does hair change a man? Not just facial hair – which let’s be honest is to men what makeup is to women – but actual head hair. Can a new hairstyle reduce the allure of a man as objectively gorgeous as Michael B. Jordan? Apparently so, judging by many women’s reactions (but not ours frankly, that man is forever a 10/10).
Of course, the other side of the debate argues that hair – both facial and on the head – shouldn’t matter. That it’s offensive to reduce Michael to mere follicles on his head, that women shouldn’t be so fickle as to raise their eyebrows at this new ‘do. And while in a perfect world no one would judge anyone by the way they look, one might be tempted to tell those people… welcome to the world of being a woman.
Now, we can’t be sure what inspired Michael to change his hair. It could be for a movie role or he could be in his Vin Diesel era, who knows? But we should be clear, if it’s anything to do with hair loss or his health, then it’s completely fair to say we shouldn’t be debating how hot he looks on social media. It would be presumptuous to assume it is health-related of course, men shave their heads every day – but it is a point to consider before casting judgement.
For now, we can only wait for Michael to address it himself… if these reactions get any wilder he might have to.
