Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released the first episode of their new podcast last night with son Archie making a surprise appearance at the end to wish listeners ‘Happy New Year’. The adorable moment saw the public hear his little American accent for the first time as he giggled into the microphone.
Harry and Meghan’s podcast: the lowdown…
Archewell Audio, the podcast presented by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex dropped on Spotify yesterday with a 2020 Holiday special episode. Featuring a collection of audio diaries from their famous friends (and even some of us regular, non-famous people), the 33-minute episode saw celebrities like Elton John, James Corden and tennis star Naomi Osaka, detail what got them through lockdown this year.
‘We thought, what if we can bring together some people that inspire us, people we admire, and get their thoughts on what they learned from 2020?’ Meghan said while introducing the episode. ‘So we asked a few friends and a lot of other folks, activists, poets… teachers, artists, people from all walks of life.’

And while the audio diaries were illuminating, one breakout moment from the episode came at the very end when Archie can be heard giggling into the microphone. ‘You can speak into it,’ Harry whispers to the now 19-month-old. ‘Archie is it fun?’ Meghan then asks before he adorably agrees and the couple have him repeat ‘Happy New Year’ after them.
Listeners were seemingly bowled over by how cute Archie is (which, if you want to hear for yourself, you can at 31.57 minutes) noting his uplifting laugh and of course, the American twang in this voice when he says 'Happy'.
We have to say, while listening to the powerful words of George the Poet and others was enlightening, hearing Archie’s sweet laughter was definitely our favourite moment in the episode - as well as when Meghan and Harry left listeners with a final message of hope. 'No matter what life throws at you guys, trust us when we say, love wins,' Meghan said. Let's just pray we can all take that positivity into 2021...
