Annually, Time magazine list their most influential people. This year, there's some very deserving names who have been recognised. There's gymnast Simone Biles, who courageously pulled out of both the team final and the women's individual all-around at the Tokyo Games to focus on her mental health. Popstar Britney Spears{ =nofollow}, who is still currently fighting her conservatorship, which she spoke out about in court this June. And music legend Dolly Parton, who helped to fund research behind the Moderna Covid vaccine.

Also on the list, named as Icons, are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with the magazine revealing a gorgeous cover shoot of the pair, shot by Pari Dukovic. Chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, a non-profit devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters, who has worked with Harry and Meghan, wrote in their profile: 'In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know. They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.'

And it's true, throughout their time together, the pair have shown compassion for thousands of people with their charity work. Just within the past year, the couple set up their not-for-profit Archewell, which helps a range of organisations; they worked on Vax Live, a concert with aimed for vaccine equality; when Archie, their son, turned two this year, the pair asked for people to donate to charity. Harry announced he is writing a memoir{ =nofollow}, with the proceeds going to charity. These are only a few examples of the work the pair have done, within the past few months.

Yet, for some members of the British public, the pair can do no right. They were even criticised last month when it was reported that they wanted the Queen to meet their baby daughter Lilibet, amidst claims that they only wanted the meeting to happen in order to generate some good publicity.

So it's barely a surprise that people are angry that Harry and Meghan are on the cover of Time. The couple have already been criticised on social media, with some users questioning why the pair deserve to be on the list at all.

But why shouldn't they be there? It's undeniable that the pair fit the criteria for making the list. They are one of the most famous couples in the world, and they use their platform largely for the greater good - even though they get a ridiculous amount of hate, for literally every single thing they do. They are influential for continuing to keep going.

And, to be honest, looking at the list - there's other inclusions to get more angry about. If you're in uproar that Harry and Meghan are on the list, maybe you should turn your attention that the fact former president Donald Trump is on the list (again). Just a thought!
