'I was in agony with trapped wind' said the This Country star.

'Don't leave without the laxatives,' a friend wrote as I lay in my hospital bed, hours after having a c-section. She'd had one three months earlier and so had written to pass on some well-earned advice. 'Don't. Leave. Without. The. Laxatives.'

Today, women across the country are remembering the bit of after-birth fun that very few people talk about, because of the incredible honesty of Daisy May Cooper's Instagram post.

Daisy - creator and star of BBC comedy show, This Country - has just given birth to her second child and has been posting again after a 'traumatic few days'.

Daisy's instagram has become well-known now for her honesty and was the only thing that kept many of us going through lockdown. And her posts since the birth have been no different.

This morning she wrote: 'This incredible midwife @debtay6 practically saved my life when I had an emergency c section with pip in 2018, and yesterday she helped me from being consumed by my own farts when I was in agony with trapped wind. 😂😂😂 Feel so blessed to know this superhero and all the other incredible midwives who had looked after me and made me laugh through all the uncomfort @gloucester_birthunit @deliverysuitegrh.'

While Daisy is always obviously up for playing for laughs, there's also something so brilliant about the honesty of her post.

Childbirth is still SUCH A MYSTERY until it happens to you. There are approximately 9609 million stories out there claiming to tell you, 'The XX things no-one tells you about childbirth.' And guess what... there's still LOADS of things people don't tell you about childbirth. And having babies. And having toddlers. And so on.

One of those things is the post-birth wind - and seeing as people are discussing it in the comments, we'll add in the post-birth poo.

In speaking about her trapped wind, Daisy has opened the floodgates, similar to the way she did in her posts earlier this year about the 'under the boob pencil test' (if you know, you know).

'Nobody told me and I was panicking thinking something was wrong, I kept asking for more painkillers...' said one follower.

'Oh the farts! So painful. Mint tea and walking was all that helped. Are they pumping farts into you while they get the baby out??? Why does it get so bad??' remembered another.

Hundreds more sympathised.

Daisy has previously thanked the team that delivered her child, saying: 'Cannot thank @deliverysuitegrh for all they are doing for our little bubba and me. Its been quite a traumatic few days and they have gone above and beyond.'

We hope you feel better soon Daisy. Keep up the myth-busting. And we hope you get some relief soon...
