It feels like a lifetime ago that London and Paris were in a bidding war to host the Olympics and now it's finally Paris' turn. The 2024 Olympic Games officially began on 27 July and have already delivered some of the finest moments in sporting history (we're looking at you, Simone Biles).

Team GB is hoping to scoop up more than 60 medals, while the French hosts are forecast to win 39 gold, 32 silver and 41 bronze medals this summer. It's all well and good counting medals and commentating on the record-breaking athletes, but what about the celebrities?

So far, we've already seen the likes of Tom Cruise, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Chastain, Emma Chamberlain, Sarah Jessica Parker, Princess Anne, Rebel Wilson, Mick Jagger, Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber, Anna Wintour, Baz Luhrmann and Ariana Grande watching their favourite athletes. And the Games only started last weekend.

If you want to know who's commentating, who's supporting who and which celebs just wanted an excuse to prance around Paris, we've got you covered.

Which celebrities are in Paris for the Olympics?

Snoop Dogg was one of the first to arrive in France to support Team USA and also carried the Olympic torch before the Games began, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is supporting Team India, actor Russell Crowe will be cheering on Australia, and Ryan Reynolds is backing Team Canada. We also know that Fenty Beauty is one of the event's partners, so there's a chance Rihanna, ASAP Rocky and their brood might be in attendance as well.

Some celebrities were involved before the Olympics had even started, with the likes of Halle Berry, Arsene Wenger, Salma Hayek and Princess Charlene of Monaco all helping to carry the Olympic Torch from Tokyo to Paris as well. Following in David Beckham and Mel C's footsteps, who both helped carry the torch during the London 2012 Olympics.

Who performed at the Opening Ceremony?

Despite an unfortunate bout of rain, Paris pulled out all the stops at the opening ceremony with teams from around the world arriving by boat along the Seine. 29 million people tuned in from the US alone, and the ceremony has been described as having 'soaring ambition with patchy delivery' by the Guardian. Meanwhile, press in India described it as 'truly sensational' and German journalists agreed it was 'as beautiful as it was mad'.

What it did do, however, was bring us Celine Dion's first live performance since her 2019 Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis. The singer was teary-eyed as she closed the ceremony with a powerful rendition of 'L'Hymne à l'amour' in front of an enraptured crowd.

Of course, Celine was not the only A-list star to perform. She was joined by the prolific Lady Gaga and Aya Nakamura, who is the most listened-to French singer in the world with more than one billion streams on Spotify.
