Anyone else not realise it was Easter weekend until literally last night? Well, if you answered 'yes' to that, you wouldn't be alone. As the days blur into one and our time off work becomes time to stare at the ceiling, it's hard to get excited about this bank holiday knowing all the plans we originally had were cancelled.
But you don't have to dwell on it all weekend by not doing anything. In fact, there are lots of last-minute ideas out there to make your Easter weekend feel that bit more special. From fun family ideas you can throw together tonight or romantic ways to celebrate a lost anniversary plan, check out our Easter plans here...
For a fun family Easter weekend...
Just because you have to stay indoors doesn’t mean Easter can’t be magical. And actually, you might have more time on your hands to transform your home into an Easter grotto. Argos is full of last-minute decorations you can get delivered to your door, from grass table runners to Easter trees. They have Instagram-chic wreaths and terrariums or if it’s more for the kids than you (rude) they have egg-themed place settings, inflatable bunny totem poles and Easter crackers!
Once you have your Easter grotto sorted, how about ordering a roast from your local pub? Not only does it save you using up your much-needed isolation supplies, it helps support a local business during this time of economic uncertainty. In fact, if you want the adults in the house to get a break you can order a pub to your door with these alcohol delivery services.
How about an Easter egg hunt round the house with a few of the kids' favourite treats? You might not be able to get hold of an Easter egg, but what about whipping up some chocolate crispy cakes or dipping all that banana bread you’ve been making in chocolate spread – it’s still sure to put a smile on any kid's face.
If you don’t fancy a food hunt, there’s always the option of planting promises round the house – a make-shift voucher to their favourite toy shop or play centre? Even just a DIY voucher to a fast-food restaurant will surely go down a treat right about now. Of course, you’ll then have to teach the kids about delayed gratification – but hey, if not know… when?

For the celebration you had to cancel…
It’s the worst time of year to be having a birthday or anniversary – not only are we all stuck inside, but it’s actually sunny outside. Again, rude. If you live with the person you’re celebrating, how about making up an itinerary for the day that you can present to them as they wake up? Having one day all about them is sure to make the boredom of lockdown go away for a while. On the itinerary itself, the world is your oyster. Breakfast in bed is a must – of course – but then how about cuing up a movie marathon of their all-time faves or if you’re lucky enough to have outdoor space, a makeshift holiday bar with towels, cocktails and good music?
Or, if you're normally the 'let's mosey down to the local market' type, how about checking out Borough Market's virtual weekend? They're streaming Easter Baking classes, meat-advice sessions and fishmongers giving their tips for a 'Fishy Friday'. With a special appearance from Poppy Loves London cooking her favourite crumble, you're sure to learn a lot.
When it comes to the evening, you can still make dinner special with a takeaway from their favourite Uber Eats restaurant. Make sure to list a time of arrival on the itinerary and then they can even make a night of it. Get ready as you would for a night on the town and decorate your dining area to feel that bit more special.
For any birthdays, it’s important to get the ones they love in on the fun – so how about a surprise group Zoom call or Houseparty session? You can play some drinking games, do a pub quiz or all watch the same live-stream and dance away in your living room. Let’s give the girls a reason to dress up, amirite?
If you’re in need of something a bit more romantic and do have access to that outdoor space, how about setting up a movie in your garden or balcony with snacks, blankets and the natural romance of the starry night sky?
For the lost-seshy weekend...
For those of us who planned to be dancing on tables this Easter weekend, this is going to be a tough smack in the face. Luckily, there are a ton of live-streams to make the weekend feel that little bit seshy. How about watching them altogether on a Zoom call? Or, if you’re normally more of a cocktails o'clock type of group, check out this websitethat gives cocktail recipes designed based on what you already have in the house – a Zoom cocktail making session has never sounded so fun…
