There are a number of reasons to pay attention to New York Fashion Week’s street style. First and foremost, it’s the beginning of a month of non-stop shows with non-stop coverage. By week two we wouldn’t blame you if your attention had drifted. But, here in NY, the trends are still fresh and this is our first look at the newest autumn pieces outside of a catwalk or red carpet setting. Secondly, and not to be discounted, the weather has been wildly erratic over the last seven days in the Big Apple, which means the sartorial limit of the street style set have been tested. Rain has lashed their boots, the wind has swept up their winter coats and umbrellas have even become a fashion statement. And, yet the week hasn’t been short of inspiration and immaculate ensembles in invigorating colour combinations with fascinating (and educational) styling. Here in England where the weather is dippy (at best), this is the sort of street style round-up we need!
