How To Nail End-of-Summer Dressing Like The Fash Pack

So you’ve made it (nearly) to the end of summer unscathed – hurrah! The heatwaves in the city, the frantic pre-holiday prep, the back to work hysteria after a week in paradise. Done, done and done. But much like that lingering disorientation you may still be feeling post-August/post-holiday, the blow to your wardrobe come September can leave us all in a state of minor panic. As we creep into autumn our style experiences what can only be described as fashion jetlag.

Beachy crop tops get stuffed to the back of our closets and our go-to summer frocks just don’t seem, well, weather appropriate when our app forecasts cloud, rain, more cloud, more rain, and maybe five minutes of sunshine if you’re lucky. What’s a girl to do?

While our instinct tells us to forget the fact we need to pay rent and shop every AW16 buy on the high street right now (FYI: GANNI and ZARA are our faves this season), nailing transeasonal dressing needn’t cost a fortune.

Grazia rounds up the end-of-summer style rules the fashionistas are following...

Slip It On

Classic white tee + slip dress + ankle boots = a ‘90s fashion girl's dream. The perfect park-to-pub look.

Layer Up

Yep, the cosy cardi is back! Instead of overhauling your look altogether, just pop on a colourful cardigan like Alexa Chung’s pink GANNI number and job done.

The ‘It’ Jacket

Make a statement this season in a bold cover-up like Kate Moss, who was spotted rocking her customised Coach bomber jacket in London recently. Must. Have. Now.

Ankle Socks + Shoes

Back-to-school style for the millennial fashionista, courtesy of Man Repeller fashion blogger Leandra Medine. Just head to your nearest M&S, stock up on the essentials (because you will always need more socks), and have a play around paired with your summer shoes – platform sandals, brogues, heels. You name it. A fun look you'll no doubt be seeing alot of at Fashion Week.

Bright Spark

Sure, it may be 11 degrees outside, but that doesn’t mean you need to opt for darker tones. Instead lighten up your look à la super stylist Martha Ward, in a cute yellow tee. Or if you’re feeling daring, opt for a yellow sequin dress à la Lily-Rose Depp.

The Inbetweener Dress

Too chilly for that off-the-shoulder dress? Suki Waterhouse shows you how to dress up your summer frock polka dot style.

Knee-high Boots

If you are still not ready to say goodbye to your summer dress, do like Gigi Hadid and swap your Birkenstocks for a pair of suede over-the-knee boots. Très chic.

Velvet Underground

The biggest trend for AW'16? Velvet everything – from LBVDs to cool co-ords. See Fendi and Preen (or Kendall Jenner) for inspo.

Add A Summer Scarf

Who says scarves are just for winter? The easiest, and chicest addition to your end-of-summer outfit, Bella Hadid-style.
