If you’ve been neglecting your lingerie drawer of late - or, like me, have managed to dye half of it a murky-grey blue thanks to some renegade tie-dye - it’s time to do something about it. We’re not saying you have to only wear matching sets - that way madness lies, surely - but investing in a few choice items will give you a much-needed spring in your step, even if you’re the only one seeing them.
Zara, as always, has an excellent reason to start shopping. Its first lingerie and sleepwear collection has just launched - and it’s full of super feminine, quietly seductive pieces. The collection’s name, The Female Gaze, says it all.
Taking comfort as its starting point, and using soft-against-the-skin fabrics such as silk, alpaca, wool and cotton, this is underwear designed for women – not for the male gaze.
The collection is pretty expansive - covering lingerie (bras and knickers), shapewear-style basics (bodies and fitted shorts) and sleepwear (dressing gowns and pyjamas) - and uses a very alluring colour palette of rust brown, duck egg blue, rose pink, as well as your neutrals like black, pearl white and taupe. A rather disappointing note, however, is that the range of sizes does seem quite limited, particularly when it comes to bras. When we reached out to the brand for comment, however, they explained that this was the first drop and more sizes will soon be available.
