After Seeing This Skirt Everywhere, I Assumed It Was Designer – Turns Out It’s £35 From Uniqlo

Uniqlo has emerged as the unlikely saviour of our summer wardrobes - from the perfect summer trousers, to the gingham skirt that sold in droves and more recently, the internet's attention has landed on the brand's Volume Gathered Skirt.

A softer, more wearable take on the viral bubble skirt we all know and (have come to) love, the voluminous swishy staple has started to dominate the sartorial spotlight. A must-have addition to any skirt rotation, featuring a slightly bouffant A-Line length that's as chic as it is comfortable, particularly during those long days in the office. The skirt has been making the rounds on TikTok, which, inevitably, led to an impromptu trip to Uniqlo to see whether it was actually worth the hype. The moment I laid hands on it, I was struck by just how expensive this skirt looked - and, even better, how it felt. One quick trip to the fitting room later, and I genuinely found myself questioning whether this was a £35 Uniqlo gem or something straight off a designer rail.

Nailing summer outfit formulas with Uniqlo's midi skirt has never been easier, and there are a laundry list of ways to style it. For casual errand runs or city-break strolling, try a boxy white tee tactically tucked into the waistband to add shape and contrast. For something a little more polished, opt for a longline waistcoat and finish the look with ballet flats or classic trainers, depending on where the day takes you.

Available in three colourways, including a mossy khaki, sailor navy and an almost pearl-like light grey, the flouncy Uniqlo skirt comes in sizes XXS to XL. All shades have plenty of sizes left to shop, though we suspect like any Uniqlo favourite, their stock may dwindle in a matter of days.
