It's a bestseller for a reason.

If you're going to add any coat to your outerwear collection this winter, make it a long puffer coat - otherwise known as a duvet coat. I'll be honest, the duvet coat hasn't always maintained the best reputation (the football manager associations are hard to shake off) but in the context of plummeting temperatures, a long puffer is the only thing getting us through. Surprisingly, the outerwear staple has serious range, with a plethora of brands, both high end and high street, offering a chic and stylish take on the snug design. Our favourite of the lot? The Uniqlo Seamless Down Long Coat.

Made with superior water-repellent functionality, Uniqlo's windproof, lightweight coat is a stylish addition to any coat collection, and also protects you from unpredictable January weather conditions. While it looks, on the outside, like your average duvet coat, it's actually made with thermal bonding rather than stitching to efficiently keep out the cold. It comes in four different shades, (black, light grey, dark green and navy) and is made in an oversized fit, which is excellent news if you have a soft spot for layering. The best part? The coat has countless of positive reviews, waxing lyrical about its warmth, elegant fit and versatility. The holy trinity.

If you're looking for a duvet coat that's incredibly reliable during inclement weather, look to this option from Uniqlo. Made with water and wind repellent functionality that'll keep you extremely warm during even the coldest of temperatures.

But the Uniqlo duvet coat isn't the only puffer coat that's making waves - Arket's influencer favourite Long Down Puffer Coat has impressively sold out four years in a row; other high street iterations include H&M's Water Repellent Puffer Coat, as well as high street hero M&S' Thermowarmth Rubber Hooded Padded Coat which is so popular, it's almost completely sold out.
