This Scandi Brand Is Where We'll Be Going For Our New Every-Occasion Winter Dress
By Lucy Morris Posted on 19 Oct 2018
Copenhagen is the sartorial gift that keeps on giving. Case in point: Stine Goya. The country that’s given us such wardrobe revolutionaries like Ganni and Saks Potts continue to deliver with this joyful Danish label.
For yonks, we’ve been sold the misconception that Scandi style means muted minimalism, but the Danes and especially Stine Goya, in particular, welcome us into a multicoloured world with imaginative accents. ‘[W]e have emerged as an occasionwear brand’, Stine tells me via email. ‘ We wanted to build on this, but at the same time introduce our suiting which adds contrast to the dresses we have become well known for,’ she says referring to a new Net-A-Porter collaboration that drops today. ‘Our universe lends itself to festive occasions, and we took to the challenge of creating a capsule that draws on elements traditionally used for our showpieces and adapting these to more accessible evening looks’.

In the 12 years since Goya, a former model and fashion editor started her label she’s filled a gap in the market for mood-altering fashion. Her work is like colour-therapy for the time-pushed. She likes colours that pierce through the grey light of winter and adornment that pushes a basic item, like a jumper, into an extraordinary realm - see the feather dotted sky blue sweater (the Callie, £240) from this new collab for an instant example.
Of all the pieces from this new range, the powder blue suit might be the most special. Not only is it a perfect example of Stine’s trend-setting agenda but it’s modelled on a bespoke suit created for a red carpet event with rhinestone appliqué. This is glamour meets every day.
