Ever since The Undoing, and the most directional or hideous coat on TV, depending on where you fell on the love-hate spectrum, we've been a little bit obsessed with celebrities and their coats. Perhaps it's because we can't meet up with friends (make that one friend) unless we're walking outdoors, or maybe it's because we're completely starved of red carpet content, but a person's coat has come to be a big fashion statement. Jodie Turner-Smith is firmly in the puffer coat camp wearing Gucci x The North Face, while Katie Holmes, something of a coat queen, wears everything from classic double-breasted coats to camel coats to leather coats to denim coats.
The latest celebrity we're fan-girling for her coat is Selena Gomez, who's been out and about filming Only Murderers in the Building. Yesterday, the actor stepped out wearing a coat that can only be described as a wearable cloud, a dream in cream from Free People. The best news? It's £158 and still available to buy online. Gomez paired the coat with the ultimate lockdown wardrobes staples: jogging bottoms and shearling-lined boots from UGG.

I've noticed lots of coats that resemble shag-pile rugs on my loops around the park. And really, why not? They're as warm as they look, and if you buy yours as oversized as Gomez's, require almost nothing else to make a perfectly presentable outfit. Whistles's Teddy coat is another great option - although it's slightly longer so best avoided on particularly muddy paths or if you have a dog. COS's Teddy fleece coat, meanwhile, comes in navy so is perhaps a better option if muddy paws are your reality. Pull on some warm winter boots and you're ready to face the world.
