Queen Letizia has stepped out inyet another high street hit. Visiting Madrid’s Foundation Against Drug Addiction, she wore a pair of ankle-length grey trousers from Mango. The exact style has sold out, but there are similar versions online (light grey, cropped at the ankle bone) for £29.99.

The royal styled the trousers with the weather-appropriate outfit of a trench coat (Burberry) and lace-up boots (Uterqüe). In keeping with her habit of recycling favourite pieces, this is the fourth time she’s worn the trousers.

She first wore them in September 2017, with a white pussy-bow blouse and black court heels, and again in both November 2018, and August 2019.

Both she and Kate Middleton, another keen outfit recycler, favour slim-fit cigarette-style trousers. While the rest of us return to leggings and elasticated waistbands for the foreseeable, it’s worth remembering what pin-sharp workwear can look like. Sigh.
