Can’t decide what to wear in the morning? We’ve got a canny new solution – and you don’t need to take off your dressing gown.

As slips and camis dominate the catwalks, street-stylers are taking the underwear-as-outerwear trend one step further, turning to their PJ drawers for a lightweight summer cover-up.

Leave the white towelling for the bathroom, mind you – this latest incarnation is slinky squared, from bold stripes (see Leandra Medine below in a multi-coloured robe from American loungewear label Sleepy Jones) to chinoiserie florals. So, how do you wear them – outside of the house, that is?

Balance out bedroom vibes by keeping it simple and not too dressed up – think blue jeans and a white t-shirt – or layer over a slip and strappy heels for evenings out.
