This is power dressing at its most wearable (and affordable).

River Island is having a renaissance of sorts. I have a soft spot for the brand - I bought my first blazer there at 21 while rifling through racks in Dubai Mall - but over the years I've leaned more towards the likes of Zara and COS for my high street essentials, and have reserved River Island for a quick dash to an actual store (!) when I'm in a fashion pinch. Seemingly quietly reinventing itself in recent years, I've seen more River Island pieces on the Instagram grids of fashionable women than ever before, and the brand's latest collab, with Love Island alum, Olivia Attwood, is a real power move for the brand - not just because it's a love letter to power dressing.

What makes this edit so magnetic? First, it’s Olivia: TV personality, style icon, and unapologetic go-getter, bringing her wardrobe and power-dressing sensibility to River Island’s accessible high-street edit. Second, it drops at exactly the right time for autumn, with layering pieces that feel seasonal yet timeless. And third, there’s a rare precision to every piece, every hem, every seam, every detail feels purposefully placed. These aren’t trend-chasing pieces; they’re items you can keep season after season, on rotation.

I could gush about this collection all day, every piece and cut is flattering for every body shape, and the colour palette feels quietly expensive. The white cape blazer took me by surprise; the scarf detailing drapes perfectly, and it’s officially on my wishlist. Pinstripes run throughout, but the navy cocoon-sleeve jacket with matching trousers is one I can’t wait to get my hands on. Burgundy sets the autumn tone, and the red handmade wool-blend scarf coat is this season’s wardrobe keeper. Leather, animal print, even a fur coat, everything looks far pricier than it is. These aren’t trend-chasing pieces; they’re timeless staples.

About the collection, Olivia said, 'I’ve shopped at River Island since I was a teenager. There was a store near where I worked, and I’d go in every day to try on the new drops. The brand has only improved over the years, so when I saw this collection, I knew I had to be a part of it. It’s so me: tailored, fun, and unapologetically bold.'

'The tailoring makes everything super flattering, so I want girls to put these pieces on and instantly feel confident, like, ‘I know I look good.’ That’s the energy behind this whole collection. I don’t chase big statement pieces anymore. I’d rather invest in something versatile that I can style in different ways. Like the tweed co-ord, I’ll wear the blazer with jeans or the skirt with a white tee. It’s chic, sustainable, and still feels fresh every time.'
