If you've spent any time on the internet this year, you will know that one film trailer in particular caused quite a stir. I'm not, surprisingly, talking about Gladiator II, featuring Paul Mescal's arms, nor am I referring to The Idea Of You, in which Anne Hathaway takes a younger lover, prompting much excitement online. I am, of course, speaking about the horniest film trailer of, well, possibly any year: Babygirl. Starring Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson, the film isn't released until 10th January but has already enjoyed a very excitable reaction from just about everyone on social media. Kidman, for her part, is stoking the excitement by bringing us the merch we didn't know we needed.
For a screening of Babygirl in New York, Kidman wore a double-breasted pinstripe suit with a white T-shirt underneath. This was not, however, any old T-shirt. This was a Babygirl T-shirt, introducing us all to the most exciting tee since Challengers and Loewe brought back the 'I Told Ya' slogan top.
A quick Google showed me that this is genuine merch, produced by A24, the production company behind the film. It's still available in all sizes but small (perhaps Kidman stocked up) and is yours for $40, or around £32. I have also found other excellent items, largely on Etsy – where else? – including phone covers, jumpers and even tote bags.
What differentiates the official merch from T-shirts merely sporting the film's title? A depiction of a glass of milk which, if you've seen the trailer, you'll understand. So, buy your Babygirl tee now and wear it to watch the film when it's released in the new year. What a start to 2025.
