Meghan Markle is one of the true waist-up wardrobe heroes of 2020, and yesterday’s appearance was no exception. For a specially recorded message as part of CNN Heroes, Markle wore a tie-neck silk blouse, something she’s relied on heavily in 2021, and a sleek low ponytail that showed off the finishing touch: a pair of swallow-shaped earrings from Catherine Zoraida. They’re still available for £120, £12 of which goes directly to the RSPB.

She first wore the earrings earlier this year for a visit to Canada House, and, what with their whimsical shape and unobstructive size, probably dug them out because they’re perfect for the times we’re living through. Earrings, naturally, have taken centre stage as everything has migrated onto a landscape screen, and Markle’s other favourite pairs include ear jackets from Cuyana, and turquoise bar studs from Jennifer Meyer.

Other tips to maximise your stage presence at the virtual office party? Tie your hair into a sleek low ponytail with some gentle face-framing wisps, and wear layer some gold bracelets (Markle’s favourites are Monica Vinader and Cartier) for extra glimmer.
