Whether you're tuning into Winter Love Island, or not, chances are you will have seen the star of the show: Maya Jama. The new host of the reality saga has made quite the entrance, and we're not surprised considering Maya has mastered the art of sexy dressing. Taking on the cut-out trend in every possible way – we've seen a black slashed dress by Lebanese designer Mônot, a red crochet mini and bralette co-ord by London-based brand Crolage and now the presenter has made her Love Island: Aftersun debut wearing a pink dress by Hanifa.
We love that Maya is wearing lesser-known labels for the show - carefully chosen by her stylist Rhea Francois - and how her loyal fans are eager to shop from smaller brands. The most recent dress is a ruched, off-the-shoulder style with a midriff cut-out and gold ring detail. Swoon. Ticking off so many trends in one, the maxi made by Congo-born designer, Anifa Mvuemba, has put floor-skimming dresses back on the map. And Maya isn't the only celebrity who has worn some of these desirable dresses.
Loved by many since its launch in 2012, Hanifa has become the destination for dresses with a talking point. With everyone from Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Lizzo, Zendaya and even Sarah Jessica Parker as fans, we're sure you would have seen some of these designs before. The Black-owned, female-founded brand is also inclusive in sizing with all designs being available in XS-3XL. Not only this, it aims to be transparent about the materials used and aims to put more sustainable processes into practice. What's not to love?
Now back to the A-listers. SJP has worn the Miya knit dress which also doubles up as a cardigan – so it's basically a two-for-one buy. Although SJP wears the maxi (yes, another floor-skimming style) in purple, this particular dress also comes in not one, not two, but seven other colours.
Actor Gabrielle Union is one of the many celebrities who has worn the Soraya printed knit mini (which now comes in a halter-neck maxi, FYI). And you can shop both styles below.
We know what you're thinking – if these celebrities are wearing this brand, it's bound to cost a fortune – right? Wrong. One of the other great features of Hanifa is the actually affordable price point. And Maya Jama's exact dress is down from £394 to £188 in the sale. Want even more good news? It's still available in all sizes. Go, go, go!
